The term ‘Mentor’ actually means “wise advisor” and originates from the Greek story “Homer’s Odyssey” about Mentor, friend of Odysseus and adviser of Telemachus.

Mentor was the son of Alcimus in Greek mythology, who appeared in the Homeric epic The Odyssey. In old age, he was a close friend of Odysseus, who placed Mentor in responsibility of his son Telemachus, while the hero was away fighting at the Trojan War. The goddess of wisdom Athena took the form of Mentor when she appeared in front of Telemachus, in order to be unnoticeable from the numerous suitors of Penelope, Odysseus’ wife. She then told the young man to stand up against the suitors, leave Ithaca and search for his lost father. She also took the form of Mentor after Odysseus’ return to Ithaca.

The meaning of the word “Mentor” in modern times has evolved to mean trusted advisor, wise person, or teacher.

Any Gender: Anyone (male and female) mentors who are willing to come forward and join.

Community-Oriented: Do you have a drive to transform the female community

Genuine: Are you honest and can provide a constructive and valuable feedback in a positive manner?

Encourager: World is full of critics, we rather need encouragers. Can you share your own experiences and offer encouragement and support.

Listener: Can you offer an ear, and if possible some meaningful advice?

Believe in Sharing: Are you willing to share your knowledge, expertise, skills, and time?

Positive Influencer: Do you carry a positive, upbeat image? Are you a positive role model?

Leader: Do you have a passion and capability to build people up, and inculcate confidence and self-esteem in them?

Inspirational: Can you Influence, Teach and Inspire?

Approachable: Are you okay to mentor the members over Phone, Email, Chat, Skype Video conference or combination of these as per your convenient time and preferred mode?
